STATE OF PUBLISHING HAIKU

so last night I had a tweet rant...today a quickly written summation haiku:

paper books not dead
self-pubbed e-books part of whole
readers reject dreck

And with that I bring you the lovely news that PIRATE BOY by Eve Bunting and illustrated by Herman Agency client Julie Fortenberry is featured in this Sunday's NYT book review!

I like your haiku -- and I certainly hope that's true. I like having ebooks in the mix, but I'm not ready to part with the special enjoyment of print books.

Very true! I believe that just as youtube didn't eradicate the television, e-books will not force print books out of publication.

I've been enjoying your tweets on the subject all week. I really appreciate your balanced perspective on the whole issue.

I'm all for the mix. I just hope the quality of writing and illustration remains high!

RAD-Dot Painter,
I feel the same way. The quality of the majority of the self-pubbed e-books is not up to par with traditional publishing but like in everything, there will be some great ones.
